Family background

Manav is a 9-year-old girl studying in grade 1 whereby her father passed away and her mother is a widow aged 28 years old and is disable on the left leg. She works in a nursery in Phnom Penh earning around US$150 a month. Manav is take care of by his grandmother and her mother remit 100,000 riel = S$33 a month back home. For food, the grandmother will try to find any job around the village or goes to Manav’s uncle house whereby the grandmother will help out in the house and her uncle will give them food. Because they are poor, they receive government support of 54000riels = S418.20 a month
