Family background

Channy is 12 years old girl studying in grade 4. Her father passed away and her mother is a widow working as a waitress in another province. Channy and her brother are taken care of by her 73 years old grandmother. Her mother sent home 50,000riels = S$16.80 a month which is not sufficient to support the family and food is often not enough for the family as her grandmother cannot find jobs in the village. They receive government support of 62000riel = S$20.90 a month
