Family background

Yean is a 9-year-old boy studying in grade 2. His father is an odd job daily wage worker in the village and his mother raise grasshoppers for sales earning around 120000riels = S$40 a month. They have a debt of US$3500 + interest to pay every month and whatever they earn are used to buy rice and food for the family and children to goes to school. Because they are poor, they receive government support of 34000riels = S$11.47 a month
