Family background

Rathavanny is a 8-year-old girl studying in grade 4 and every day, she will walk 2km to school as her parents cannot afford to get her a bicycle. Her father is a daily rate odd job laborer in the village and his wife is a housewife staying at home to look after the children. Her parents do not have a house on their own and they live on support from their relatives for daily food and housing and their relatives will buy school textbooks for Rathaanny to goes to school. Because they are poor, they receive government support of free medical should they goes to the hospital
