Family background

Lim Davin is a 8 year old boy studying in grade 2 . His father passed away and his widow mother works in a factory earning US$200 a month leaving Davin and his two siblings to be taken care of by his 70 years old grandmother. Her mother has a debt to repay every month hence can only send back 100000riels = S$30 to support the family and for the children to go to school. As the amount is not sufficient, the children try to help out after school by finding bottles and carboard etc for sale. Because they are poor, they receive government support of 102000riels = S$30.60 a month
