Family background

Khorn Syde is a 9-year-old boy studying in grade 3 whereby his father is an odd job daily rate village worker earning 300000riels =S$90 a month and his mother is a housewife. They are in debt for lending money to rent a plot of land for planting rice and harvest is very poor. Now, the earning from the father will need to pay back the loan + interest every month and his earning is not able to support the family for daily food and sending his 3 children to school. They receive government support of 74000riels = S$22.20 a month for support of the poor.
