Operation Hope Foundation started the Rice Bag House project in 2015. Today, our organisation is working to share the rice bag construction method with Nepalese whose houses were damaged by the earthquakes.

Demonstration of rice bag house withstanding shock
This is a model of a rice bag house which we built using small plastic bags filled with soil to simulate the actual rice bag. The plastic bags are held together with thin velcro tapes that replaces the barb wire used in the actual construction. Using a shaker to simulate an earthquake, the house is able to withstand the shock from the shakings.
