Family background

February 2025, Saphaun and her sister, Pheap, joined HVPV, hoping for a brighter future. They come from a family of six children, struggling to make ends meet. Their mother recently gave birth and is unable to work, as she stays home to care for the children. Their father, who has a disability affecting one side of his body, is limited in the work he can do and currently looks after ducks for a family in the village. With such a large family and only a small income, it is nearly impossible to support all six children—let alone send five of them to school. Recognizing their potential and strong academic abilities, the village chief recommended that Saphaun and Pheap join HVPV, giving them the opportunity to continue their education.
