His father left the family and his mother supports the 3 children alone with a small vegetable plot to grow vegetables and sell them. She will catch fishes from the river to sell. School is very far for the children as they need to cycle half way and then take ferry across the river to attend school. Her mother is very poor and so she sent Vuth and his sister to HVPV
