OHF SUSTAINABILITY
Clean Water
Access to clean and safe drinking water remains a critical challenge on a global scale. Despite significant progress over the past few decades, there are still millions of people who lack access to reliable sources of clean water.
Lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation can have severe health consequences. Contaminated water sources can lead to waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea, which disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, particularly children.
The cycle of poverty cannot be broken without clean water that is easily reached – not only are disease and even death rampant due to the lack of clean water but also education and the advancement of women and children are impacted.
ACCESS TO WATER
Operation Hope Foundation’s approach to the water problem is to install air-lift pump wells and UV Safe Drinking Water Systems.
- Having our own drilling rig, trained staff, and control over the installation process ,we maintain quality standards, reduce costs, and ensure that the wells are constructed and maintained effectively.
- By providing air-lift pump wells, we address the issue of falling water levels and the limitations of traditional hand-pumps.
- Conducting surveys and interviews identify the right beneficiaries ensuring that the resources are directed to those who are most in need.
- The UV Safe Drinking Water Systems in schools have a multiplier effect, benefiting not only students and teachers but also their families and the broader community. This integrated approach supports health and education simultaneously.
- Operation Hope Foundation’s approach to addressing water access in Cambodia is holistic, thoughtful, and community-centered. By identifying the right beneficiaries, building reliable water sources, and providing safe drinking water systems in schools, we are transforming the lives of Cambodians and fostering a brighter future.
MY NAME IS
CHEA BONA
Chea Bona has an eye disorder which affects his sight. With the nearest water source located 500m away, it was extremely challenging for him and his wife to retrieve water for his family.
Receiving a well has given Chea Bona’s family convenience and ease of access to clean water. They no longer have to walk long distances to obtain water to wash, water crops and cook.
