The founder of OHF is an engineer who believes that poverty exists because technology did not help the poor in rural villages. Technology must be in a form that is appropriate for the poor. It has to be affordable, easy to use and repair and impactful. Sadly research and development work by most companies are targetted towards the rich in developed countries.
With the support from Beckman Coulter Foundation. Operation Hope Foundation presented the joint Harvey Mudd College (HMC) and National University of Singapore (NUS) Global Clinic team with the task of prolonging the shelf life of local vegetables in an effort to increase the daily wage of subsistence farmers in rural Cambodia.
